I am 5‘6“ tall and weigh 170 pounds. My hips are 41 inches but my waist is 37 inches. The size large fit me perfectly in the hips but is quite snug in the waist. I then got an extra large which is much more comfortable to wear and does not seem to be cut much larger in the hips. If anyone has looked at the size chart on Amazon you know that the measurements are ridiculous and have no relationship to human beings so I hope that my experience helps.
