Enjoying Our Hotub!
It’s been about a month since our purchase and we are very pleased with this purchase. Here are few things to point out that you will find helpful.
Assembly:
The hot tub was very easy to assemble and install, and the directions were easy to follow.
After filling it with water take a water sample to your local pool and spa store to find out exactly what you need to get the water just right in terms of ph, hardness, and bromine levels. This will go a long way in keeping it clean and the pump parts working correctly. Prior to doing that we had a hard time keeping bromine levels right and the filter light would come on a lot. Since getting the water tested and adjusted we have had no issues keeping the bromine levels where they should be and haven’t had to change the filter as often.
One extra step we did to reduce the amount of heat loss was we went to Lowe’s and picked up four 8x4 sheets of 1 inch thick R5 insulation to place under the hot tub. While the hot tub was empty we traced it on the insulation and cut it to a neat circle. We then placed the solar pad that came with the hot tub over that. This has significantly reduced heat loss from the bottom and also provides a better level of comfort when sitting in it. On cooler nights so far the temp rarely drops even one degree to 103 degrees. If you do this you will need to place a piece of the insulation under the pump so it sits at the same height as the tub and your connections line up correctly.
Use:
The hot tub can fit six people but it would be a little tight but it fits four adults comfortably. The light that comes with It are nice at night and you can set it to specific colors or rotate through them automatically. Be advised that turning on the bubbles sucks in outside air to create them so this will reduce the water temperature a degree or two when you use them. The blow up cushions that come with it are ok. I like them, my partner doesn’t use them so they come down to personal preference. We ordered the optional drink holder tray and love it. As to the amount of electricity it uses so far we have not noticed a change on our bill which is great.
Maintenance:
You will need to change the water every 3 months and recommend getting a larger floater to put bromine tablets in. Invest in a better test kit. They are not expensive. Filter changes in the manual say once a week but ours are not that frequent. We purchased filter cleaner from Lowe’s and resuse each filter once after cleaning.
We are loving it and enjoying evenings soaking, sipping, and listening to our favorite music. Hope you found this review helpful!
