A Good Little Sewing Machine
I ordered this sewing machine to have on hand for repairing clothing and for small incidental projects, then to pack away when not using it. I am by no means a sewer, though my mother was when she was younger, so I know the basics and that's it. I tried it out yesterday and found the machine to surpass my expectations. It is made of plastic, no surprise, but with some care and protection while storing, it should last as long as I need it to. It is light weight, and there is a light on it to keep your projects well lit. It has enough different stitches and functions (like sewing on buttons and making button holes, more than I'll ever need) to be truly useful to have. The instructions are easy to follow, and the motion of the sewing mechanism is smooth and very solid. It worked quite well on my little projects yesterday. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the presser foot lever is plastic, and even with careful use I see this eventually breaking. Some tips: if buying this machine, get steel bobbins and some heavier duty needles, because the machine comes with plastic bobbins (which I don't think would hurt but aren't going to be as precise a wind as steel), and the needle is a little on the lighter side. I repaired a pair of heavy canvas pants for my husband, so I was glad I'd gone to the store and gotten a heavy duty needle. All in all, pleased with the purchase and believe I will get lots of long use out of it.
