When I was in elementary school, if we forgot our pencil we had to go to the office and buy a new one from the pencil machine. Outwardly, it was a walk of shame: everyone knew you had forgotten your pencil, and having to spend a quarter on a new one meant you weren't getting a chocolate milk at lunch that day. However, inwardly, you had to stop yourself from skipping to the office because you were about to play the ultimate slot machine for 8 year olds; the slot machine that you always win. The anticipation was in the mystery of which pencil you were about to receive, and there was definitely a triple-cherry of the pencil slot machine world: the holographic pencil with black wood. Fast-forward 20 years and I had completely forgotten about this pencil until I found it searching for other holographic items on Amazon and suddenly I was 8 years old standing in front of a pencil machine again. I now have an ENTIRE box of these pencils in my desk at work and am the coolest kid in my office (even though no one else has any idea how cool my pencils are).
