PawFriction has helped my aging, diabetic dog regain some confidence, as well as helped her posture when standing!
First of all, I'm grateful to those who have used the product before me and left their reviews. This helped me to determine if this product would be right for my dog. Second, I'm sorry that I didn't hear about this product sooner. This has been very helpful with my situation at home with my dog. Third, I hope my review will help someone else trying to decide if this product is best for them. Here's a little background on my situation and then why I chose this product: My husband and I took in our dog 10 years ago. She was 3 years of age at the time. Upon my request, I asked the prior owner to release any of the dog's paperwork from veterinarian visits. I was shocked to read that this poor dog was born with major health issues. We've dealt with many things stemming from allergies to food and its repercussions, to our current health woe of diabetes. For the past 4 years, we've been diligently taking glucose readings, injecting insulin, and any other health concerns associated with having diabetes. Our dog is nearly 13 years of age now, and we noticed this past winter that she was having issues standing and going up and down stairs. We thought it was due to our wood floors in the kitchen, but, when her legs shot out from under her on carpet, we knew we had to do something. However, we had other health issues to deal with first. Now that we've got our Shiba-Inu mix stabilized with her diabetes, we ordered PawFriction on the advice of one of the techs at our local veterinarian hospital. Yes, I researched it here on Amazon with the reviews and questions I had were answered for me. I got the product, read through the flyer and followed the directions. WOW!!! I was immediately impressed with the product! It was a "night and day" difference in our old girls posture. Not only could she stand comfortably on carpet, she wasn't have any issues on the wood floor. The biggest test came with the 10 steps she has to walk down to get outside to do her business. Although there's some pain probably coming from aging, she seemed more confident taking those steps down and back up again. (She was getting to the point where she didn't want to go out due to the stairs being difficult to traverse.) Follow the directions and you'll have no major issues. Because our dog is getting older, I situate her between me and a chair or ottoman so she can lean while I apply the adhesive to her pads (we do the standing technique as she doesn't like the lying down part-reminds her of getting poked at the vets, I assume), and then gently put her feet in the tray with the product. I make her stand for 60 seconds instead of 30. I also don't apply the adhesive to the entire pad like you see in the photo. I cover just where she needs the traction the most. The only thing I will have an issue with is during rainy season. We live in Washington State. The first week I used it, we didn't make it a full 7 days, as we had a bit of rain visit us. It lasted approximately 3.5-4 days. However, drier weather is upon us and she's making it the full 7 days. I peel off any excess that may be there from prior treatments as best I can (Imagine layering Band-aids, one on top of the other. Eventually, they all fall off at once and you have to start over.). If you remove as much as possible before the next treatment, you'll save yourself (and your dog!) the added aggravation of having to reapply two days later. Hope this helps others in their decision to buy this product. And yes, I'd recommend this product to anyone.
