Works reliably
I installed the Senville 12,000 btu mini split unit in July 2019, have waited a few months before writing a review. Overall very pleased with this A/C - heat pump unit. Install was in a new shop. Did all the mechanical steps myself, but had the final refrigerant line hookup done by a certified HVAC tech. If you are not placing the outside unit on a pad, I highly recommend the Pioneer Mounting Bracket ($26.50) for hanging the unit from the outside wall. Also recommend the Pioneer PVC Decorative Line Cover Kit for Ductless Mini Split A/C ($45) (prices per Amazon Prime). Attached pictures show both. Also make sure you purchase an Air Conditioning Disconnect (ACD) as it is not included with the kit. It is available on Amazon, Home Depot, etc., runs $10-12 ea. I found out from a (WA) State electrical inspector that you are supposed to have a 120v electrical outlet within 25 ft of the outside unit, so if you don't happen to already have one within reach (as I did not!), you might want to purchase an ACD that has an integrated GFCI receptacle, such as the Siemens WN2060U Non-fused ACD w/ GFCI receptacle. Costs about $40 but will cover the bases. As for the mini split unit itself, installation went well; I had to study the install guide for a while to make sure I was correctly marking the spot for the hole in the wall for the refrigerant lines and control cable. Most impressive is the cooling and heating capability; my shop measures just shy of 400 sq.ft., w/ 10 ft. ht. walls. I went with the 12000 btu unit to make sure there would be enough cooling/heating capacity and I have not been disappointed. Since the install it has operated through 100 deg (F) heat this past summer, and so far this fall/winter down to 16 deg. cold weather. Unit easily keeps the shop in the degree range I select (68 - 72) with the remote control. Sound level is very acceptable; you can detect a slight hum/vibration through the wood frame wall (6" studs) only when the unit is "working hard" upon first turning the heat up by several degrees. This lasts less than a minute. If the mounting brackets were attached to a concrete wall I doubt anything would be heard. The interior unit itself makes no noise whatsoever. The outside unit remains whisper-quiet, you usually have to look at the fan to see if it is actually running. Have had the unit "on" now for five straight months, no issues at all, very impressed...!
