This product is a facial cleanser which contains 2% salicylic acid; it is comparable to other over-the-counter anti-acne face washes, though this product does not specifically claim to be anti-acne. Salicylic acid is an oil-soluble beta-hydroxy acid; the other hydroxy acids (lactic, glycolic, trichloracetic) are not oil-soluble - this sets SA apart. This face wash would work well with people who have mild eczema, psoriasis, acne, or clogged pores. The salicylic acid serves as a very mild chemical exfoliant which, with regular use, will help to remove the top layers of skin and result in a more clear complexion. Although not specifically targeted for people with oily skin, if you have especially dry skin, this might not be the best product for you as salicylic acid is somewhat drying - lactic acid, however, would serve you well, because it is remarkably gentle and does wonders for the level of moisture in the skin.
