I like the beach wave look this iron gives you. I wouldn't call it curls. It takes a little practice to get the iron to stay well and high heat. I have fine and very straight hair and the first time I used it the wave didn't stay long the second time was much better. I think it also holds better with not fresh clean hair. Don't give up! Try it a few times to get the hang of it because it does give natural looking wave. The degress are in celcius which was weird for me but I just googled a conversion and it goes up to 210° celcius or 410° farenheit. Overall I like the look this iron gives you that's different from my curling wand or flat iron
