I purchased this for my husband, to help locally manage the temperature (metabolism and sensory) of an area when he has an acute, systemic allergy flare-up, which usually starts with hand-itching that eventually progresses to the rest of his body (no anaphylaxis). The size of this pack is fantastic to cover a larger surface area, and Its much easier, and less concern with drips, to pull this out of the freezer than to make a gallon-sized ice bag, and is certainly more comfortable than an ice bath (which has been necessary on occasion). The pack stays cold long enough for him to move from one area to the next, if needed. Not sure if it would be appropriately cold long enough for multiple 20 min applications for injury treatment, as we’ve (thankfully) not yet had occasion to try it for that purpose. It’s definitely super cold. Make sure to protect your skin with a barrier between the pack and your skin (as is recommended by their literature , and should be done with any commercial ice pack, regardless of how cold you feel it may be).
