Cons: -Definitely not true-to-color -Padding non-existsnt -May have difficulty standing up to being packed with heavy-ish items frequently over time Pros: -Very fair price point -Compact -Great for light packing -Enough pockets that items are easy to organize and find but not so many that you lose your mind trying to remember where you put your stuff. My husband and I hike a lot with our two young kids. Until recently, I had been using an old patrol bag or the pockets allotted in our Deuter Kid Comfort to carry items on the trail - but our youngest has outgrown his Deuter and I honestly can’t stand the insane amount of pockets in my husband’s Marmot bag. We had to fly across the country for a family wedding and I figured this cheap backpack would be a good purchase for the trip and our future outdoor endeavors. I was right and wrong. Initially really disappointed by the color (was going for something a little more feminine - but not HEY, FLORAL PATTERN HERE!), I was happy to see how big the bag was and that my two laptops, one of those u-shaped travel pillows, and all of my personal necessities could fit in this bag with room to spare. The mesh side pockets are deep and held my water bottle REALLY well. I could bend over and help a kid re-tie a shoe or pick something up off the floor and it didn’t budge. That’s a major plus. That being said, the shoulder straps become pretty uncomfortable and feel flimsy if you have heavier items like laptops packed into the bag. After about an hour of walking around the airport, I wished I had dealt with the marmot instead. For the price, I can’t really complain about the lack of padding. I know this will be a great pack for things like sweatshirts and low-weight items for short hikes, but will definitely be investing in something a little more back and shoulder friendly for our longer ventures out and about.
