I rowed competitively for 7 years and use a Concept 2 machine at home. (That machine has well over 50 million metres on it and still operates perfectly.) I bought this Sunny machine to use at our holiday home and did read a lot of reviews on it before buying. Delivery came today, 5 days ahead of schedule 😁 and unpacking and assembly took about one hour. Don’t rush it, a little extra time here can pay dividends later. 👍🏻 First rowing impressions were OK to Good. The mechanism is certainly smooth, but distinctly ‘different’ to anyone used to a chain-driven fan mechanism machine. Far quieter, for sure, but much more of an on-off, on-off feel to it. I miss the rolling inertia of that big rotating fan(!) I guess I’ll get used to magnetic resistance in the coming weeks. As other reviewers have noted, the computer is almost comically cheap and limited, but I tend to do only time / distance training anyway, so it’s not too bad. I’m 6’3” and 250-lb so right on the upper end of the recommended range. I did encounter one immediate problem - I would hit the front bump-stops with the seat on each forward travel stroke. Removing the front bump-stops solves this and I don’t strike the front section of the machine. (SUNNY - THE FRONT BUMP-STOP HOLE SHOULD - AND COULD - BE DRILLED 1” FURTHER FORWARD 👍🏻) On a similar vein, the console from the computer upwards should be recessed forward another 1-2”. I found it too easy to strike it with the hand-grips when rowing hard with eyes closed. For most people though, these will not be issues. What Sunny has delivered for the price is quite staggering. I’m in a Challenge next week and plan to put 500,000m on the machine. That should be enough for a decent test! I’ll update if it does or doesn’t pass. 👍🏻 For anyone using the machine for general fitness, buy one! You really can’t go wrong at the price.
