This is by far the best book I have read in years. It is provocative, shocking, educational and prophetic. It reads like a novel and is as relevant as air. Early in the book Dinesh D’Souza lays out three indicators that prove America is on the decline. “First, the American economy is stagnant and shrinking relative to the economies of China. Russia, India and Brazil…Second, America is drowning in debt. While China is the world’s largest creditor nation, America is the world’s largest debtor nation. At $17 trillion, the national debt is now bigger than the total sum of goods and services that America produces in a year…Finally, America is losing it’s position in the world.” I know of no one that could argue with D'Souza's three points. How is this for perspective? “America became the sole superpower only when the Soviet Union collapsed, in 1992.” That makes is the sole world leader for only two decades. “When we consider that the Roman Age lasted a thousand years, and the Ottomans and the British dominated the world for several centuries, America’s dominance seems brief, and already it is precarious.” D’Souza the master of debate flips the progressives argument and states that “the progressives are the real thieves, in that they use the power of the state to seize the property and possessions of people who have earned them. In the name of the ordinary citizen, progressives have declared war on the wealth creators. Yet they are not on the side of the ordinary citizen, because their policies lead to stagnation, impoverishment, indebtedness, and decline – all in evidence today.” “Both sides love America, but they love a different type of America. One side loves the America of Columbus and the Fourth of July, of innovation and work and the “animal spirit” of capitalism, of the Boy Scouts and parochial schools, of traditional families and flag-saluting veterans. The other side loves the America of tolerance and social entitlements, of income and wealth redistribution, of affirmative action and abortion, of feminism and gay marriage.” I pulled quotes from the first 26 pages of the book only. There are a total of 257 pages of D'Souza's genius. The book jacket hand held and viewed up close is stunning. The graphic says it all. Please read "America" and share it with your neighbors. It is a very important read.
