Amazed at the Difference it Made
I have a roof-mount HD antenna pointed at our nearest tower 33 miles away. I just used the house cabling and splitter that DirecTV had left. The antenna was great for a while, but we started getting pixelated channels and others that were too weak to display. We're hosting a Super Bowl party Sunday and I couldn't chance the channel not coming in with 15 impatient viewers.
I installed the Channel Master amplifier outside our house where the old splitter was. The housing is nice and weatherproofed. I purchased a longer 25' coax cable to power the unit so that it would reach an outlet on the outside of our house; I plan to permanently power it via an outlet in the crawlspace though.
Immediately after connecting everything up, all of our weak and pixelated channels came in clearly! I'm amazed at how such a simple fix resolved all of our issues with weak signal and poor-quality splitters. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to overcome degraded signal due to splitters or too many TVs hooked up to the splitter.
