Repurposed (I think that's a word)
WOW! At last! I have racked my brain for years in an attempt to solve my dilemma and here, at last, in this mini-mop, is my answer!
Due to age and associated infirmities I can no longer get down on my knees. Well, I should say if I do get down it's extremely painful even with good quality knee pads, plus I can't get back up on my own once I get down there, so I don't do it anymore.
One of my biggest cleaning problems has been not being able to reach to clean under the bowl and around the whole underside and base of the toilets. It used to be such a simple, no-big-deal thing to do and now it's not. And if it doesn't get done it just looks too gross to live with or admit responsibility for.
I have tried all sorts of solutions and implements with no really satisfactory results. The long handled bathtub and shower sponge-type tools are meant for flatter surfaces and are unable to get into all the curves and small areas like around the bolt covers where the toilet is bolted to the floor.
Until now, the best thing I had tried was rags, sponges, or wet paper towels held with tongs. (Never to be returned to their original purpose). None of which worked well at all for a variety of reasons.
These little mini-mops (I bought 2, so far) are pretty much the tool I fantasized. Now that I have found them I can think of several other possible uses for those of us who, though physically limited, find that keeping a clean home is a value they can't let go of.
The mops appear to me to be very well made. The handles are strong and sturdy. The yarn, though acrylic, feels like the normal cotton yarn you find in an old fashioned full size floor mop and is of generous thickness and quantity. I had to dig in with my fingers to find the metal. That, of course, is not to say that when scrubbing vigorously it would not be possible to uncover the metal and cause scratches. Since I don't plan to use them in such a manner, I am not concerned. I have found another real scrubber for the inside of the toilet that I am satisfied with for now. It has been the outside that has been my big challenge.
I hope this review will be helpful to someone. I'm just so super happy and relieved I had to share it with someone even though this was not about the item's original intended purpose.
