"Get a Yeti" they said!
Well, we had to do it. We had to buy the Yeti. Everyone said they were one of the best coolers out there. "Get a Yeti" they said. So we did and this one was purchased on Warehouse Deals in "good, used condition" at a cheaper price so why not. We were so excited to become Yeti owners that we were unpatiently waiting for the brown Santa Claus to arrive and when he did we nearly tackled him to the ground to get the Yeti. We really didn't know what to expect from this as it's just very hard to pay such a high price for a cooler when we were convinced that we were just paying for all the hype of the brand name but... We were now Yeti owners! Here's where the good stuff comes in. We went camping for 5 days over Memorial Day weekend. Jeeping to be exact at the hot ass and sandy Haspin Acres in Indiana. We took food, alcohol and drinks to hold us over for 5 days. We also took a 52 quart Ozark Trail cooler from Wal-Mart (the tan one, Yeti knock off looking thing), another cheaper cooler from Wal-Mart, I think it's a Limited 55 quart (grey blue and black) and a white coleman basic cooler. We put all coolers in the freezer to pre-cool them before we filled them. Although we camped in a shady area, we had to repeatedly put ice in all coolers except for the Yeti. Over the 5 days we did add ice to it but it was also the only cooler that held the ice and didn't have a bunch of water in the bottom of it. At the end of our trip we emptied all contents out of all coolers except for the ice. The Yeti had more ice in it than all the others even though it was the smallest cooler of them all. Needless to say, if you are looking for a comparible cooler to the Yeti and don't want to pay the price, the $97 dollar grey Limited or Liftetime cooler we purchased from Wal-Mart came in a close second. The Ozark was okay and the Coleman was terrible. Now I don't think you need a Yeti for everything but if you need things to stay cold for a few days, you will spend less money on ice and ruint food in the long run if you just buy the Yeti.
