Finally a reasonable amount of jitter!
I've had this tablet for about a week now and I'd say over it's amazing minus the cons. (I've since edited this review)
Pros:
- Screen is crisp and clear.
- Colors are relatively accurate out the box with out much need for calibration.
- Actually feels like you have more than enough workspace.
- Super pressure sensitive.
- I haven't noticed it getting hot like other screen tablets I've used. Only mildly warm after using it for like 5 hours.
- Works out the box with dual screens and Paint Tool Sai on windows 10, unlike certain Wacom tablets.
Mixed:
- You can feel the pen nib move as you press down. The more you use the pen, the less noticeable it is.
Cons:
- The calibration tool is off. After you've calibrated your tablet it will be offset to the left quite a bit. The default calibration works fine for me so it's not as much of an issue. However it's noticeably off sometimes when drawing different directions. About 1/4th of an inch.
- This tablet does have an issue with line jitter when drawing slowly. I'll attach pictures with fast/medium/slow.
In CLIP the stabilizer is set to 14 in Sai to 11.
- Has more issues with programs that are not Photoshop.
Over all if this is you first tablet or you're just looking for a back up I'd consider this. Currently it seems like the best bang for your buck. Attached is some art I drew in both CLIP and Sai. As you see even if there is some line jitters it's not really that noticeable if you draw on really large canvases. (Edit: I've actually been told it's pretty noticeable in my most recent pictures now)
I notice it more in CLIP than sai though. I'm hoping its just a driver issue and will be fixed in time. It's the one deal breaker I'm temped to return this tablet for. I'd consider waiting until they fix what ever driver issues they're having. I can't in good confidence fully recommend this tablet until they fix it.
Edit: Apparently Huion is sending out free pens in exchange for reviews. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Edit: After using this tablet for a while the line issue is actually quite annoying when it comes to inking and trying to do clean colors. Huion has admitted that there is indeed a line issue and that it won't be fixed for quite sometime. Amazon won't allow me to upload the email so here it is transcribed.
"“Dear Clover,
Thank you for your reply.
So sorry to tell at present this problem can’t not be solved. It is wavy when draw diagonal lines on tablet. But we try our best to improve our technology to solve this problem in the future. Thanks for your contact and let us realize this problem. Please give us time to grow.
Hope you can understand and accept our sincere apologies.”
Also annoyed because it's being quite a hassle to return. I don't recommend buying directly through Huion probably ever. Make sure it's for-filled through amazon if you decide to buy this tablet.
Edit as of 5-7-18: I have tried the firmware update you can get by emailing Huion. Unfortunately there's still an issue with jittery lines, especially with CLIP. There also isn't any fix for the poor calibration. At this point in time I'm going to have to recommend going with XP-Pen.
Edit as of 12-29-19: Finally the jitter seems to be reduced to something manageable in CLIP Studio! Still a small bit of jitter but no where near as bad, and almost negligible now. It only took them a year and a half to fix. Still sad I bought it at full price. If anything it's a warning not buy any tablet until the bugs are worked out.
