Correction: Nesting Set has "room" for fledgling handles!
While I just received this set, and have not used it yet, only washed and seasoned, I felt it necessary to make an initial comment. The set is a heavy duty set, remarkably heavy duty pans. The covers are not that heavy, but seem sturdy enough. The pans nest together as advertised and will take up very little shelf space. Two comments that I have are the reason for not giving set a 5 star rating to start. The handles seem to be well constructed, and when attached to a pan/pot, seem to be sturdy. However, as some have noted, they are made of a plastic, and I am a bit concerned about the plastic, and wonder why a more heat resistant material might have been used, especially if used over a gas flame heat source, such as found in most RV kitchens. Secondly, this set is sold as a nesting set for use in RV/Boat type applications. Correction: I had wondered why the handles are not designed to nestle into the stacked pot set. After a bit of restacking and adjusting the covers inside, I was able to get the handles to rest on top of the large cover, and with a bit of a balancing act, (the covers are slippery and they want to slide off), I got them to stay there as I put the last pan on top, and the set closed up as on unit! Before I could to that I had been concerned that one or both might be lost or misplaced in a busy RV/Boat kitchen/galley. I included photos of the stacked set, the set with the top pan removed showing the balanced handles, then with the handles and covers removed, and the full set. If you look at the photo with the handles and covers removed, note the multi cover has to be stacked in that position for all pieces to fit. I hope to get back soon with an updated review after use in my kitchen. UPDATE: After a bit of use I wish to add the following. The pans do discolor somewhat on the bottoms, after application of heat. The milled/brushed surface is harder to keep clean, but I doubt that I will worry much about that. The pans work very well for intended purpose. I wll point out that over gas heat, I have taken to "removing" handles when not needed, attaching when placing/removing/stirring only as needed. I do not want to worry about melting if I do not have to. Also, the larger "dutch oven" metal handles can get quite hot over gas, so be prepared with good pot holders when removing pan. Other than that, love the set and if I think of anything else, will add later. UPDATE: 9/29/15 I have now had a chance to use this set under both home and camping conditions. While it is a heavy set, it is by far superior to my previous home set, and beats out my traditional aluminium camping set by a mile. While camping this year, we avoided the usual "hamburgers and hot dogs!" We ate well....extremely well. While the larger pot is smaller than the one I am used to, we did well. Using this set we even made beef-bourguignon and a full pot roast, with onions, potatoes, carrots feeding 8 adults. This was accomplished using the large base stock pot and the large sauce pan as the cover....it was the perfect Dutch oven! After 10 days of rigorous use under camp ground conditions, I am surprised that it looks as good as it does today. It is a chore to clean some cooked on spills off the outside and not "scratch" the surface, but I am sure that over time, as this set gets used more and more, I will be less worried about the exterior looks and just enjoy using it to cook good food! I am looking forward to buying the colander and possibly a nesting Stainless Steel Sauté pan, though I am not sure that I want the non-stick version which is available. Update: 9/17/2017 I recently purchased the "nesting colander" that matches this set and was very pleased with the construction, and the way that it fits the large (base) pot for both use and storage! While I have not used it yet for spaghetti, I have used it for macaroni and for steaming vegetables and it works as expected. I can now boil or steam and then just lift the colander and drain without having to remove the pot from the stove. I am now thinking...."deep fryiing"?? French fries, chicken? Ah, the possibilities! Update: 7/17/2019 After having a handle break on one of my "kitchen set" pans, in emergency mode, I brought the Magma set in from the camper/RV. It has slowly become a staple in the the kitchen. The compact stacking storage works just as well in the kitchen as it does in the camper/RV. Again, the heavy duty ruggedness of this set is a definite plus. They do clean up well, and any hard issues are dealt with either baking soda or "Bartenders Helper".
