*(To see my advice in choosing between sizes 16 and 18, please see note at bottom.)* Because I am 5 foot eight, size 16-18, and thick-waisted, fitting jeans is a nightmare. Usually it’s too loose in the legs if it’s big enough in the waist. These fit me perfectly! I am often between a 16 and 18 at certain stores, especially due to a lack of a defined waist. The 18 fits me just right. Since I’m 5 foot eight, I might have been able to go into the long size, because the bottoms fall right at the ankle. (But that works better for current trends.) They stay up well without causing much of a muffin top (which is almost impossible for me to find, except in Torrid jeans that cost $50 or more.) I included photos that showed the different angles, including the small amount of muffin top. (When you’re thick-waisted, my size, and post-3-pregnancies, muffin top is unavoidable in pants that are going to stay up.) * I believe I could have fit into a size 16 if my waist were smaller. I am usually a size XL and between 16 and 18 at Old Navy, but Target size 18 is usually too tight in the waist. If you are similar but have a defined waist, I would try a 16 first.
