We are on a well in the Nevada desert and the water is full of calcium and magnesium carbonates. I am a born skeptic and had strong doubt that this unit would make any difference whatsoever. I read and followed the instructions carefully. put it on the intake and outtake pipes to the whole house sediment filter, see the picture. The results get better with time. AFter 3 weeks now, we have noticed: 1. Laundry much cleaner and softer, needs 1/2 the soap 2. Dishwasher actually cleans the dishes again. Using 1/2 the detergent. 3. No lime buildup around faucets, sinks, toilets. 4. No thick crusty buildup on the bottom of the coffee maker. 5. Ice cubes melts without precipitating white flakes and particles. (We can make martinis again, yay) 6. Soap lathers up much much faster. 7. Water "feels" a lot nicer. Get out of the shower and skin is soft without that dry crusty feeling. In summary, we are very satisfied with this unit. It was cheaper than RO systems, easy to install, worked quickly and maintenance free. Strongly recommend to anybody on a well.
