Phenomenal, Emotional, Deep, a Beautifully Made Film
First of all, I don't subscribe to the whole Marvel vs. DC thing. You can enjoy both or one or the other. I've enjoyed both and love that they are stylistically and artistically different from each other. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zack Snyder and writers Chris Terrio and David Goyer have created a "superhero" epic. It has heart, emotion, meaning and amazing performances. Ben Affleck is the best Batman to date. He brought so much to the role. Batman is both scary and mysterious. He is tough and reliable. And he actually does a lot of detective work in this one, which was refreshing to see. Henry Cavill continues his brilliant portrayal of Superman and also brings a lot of emotion, intensity and brilliance to the role. To be honest, seeing these two actors on screen just bringing it was truly an awesome experience. The highlights though were Jesse Eisenberg and Gal Gadot playing Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman. Eisenberg is both crazy, scary and socially awkward thereby showing a lot of complexity in Lex. I cant wait to see how he ia utilized in the DC extended universe. And finally Gal Gadot, she is beautiful, smart and tough. She truly is a hero for all people to admire. She is mysterious and when she gets the chance to shine, she steals the show.
Before the release of the film, I picked up the score by Junkie XL and Hans Zimmer on vinyl. The score is definitely one of the best I've ever heard in a superhero film.
This film is a solid 5 out of 5. Between the great performances, amazing action sequences and story, I truly believe this will be remembered as one of the great superhero films. The critics got this one wrong.
