I have had this filter for one week. I live in a three bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, NY with my boyfriend who smokes a ton of weed and a roommate who thinks he's a Michelin star chef. I bought this after I sealed the windows for winter. I became very aware that there was no air -ZERO- coming in our out of the house. I was living in a hot-boxed Taco Bell (not as bad as it sounds for one or two nights). I had to act. A saw other filters on Amazon that were more expensive, and initially considered those. I found Winix at Bed Bath and Beyond, and the sales clerk actually sold me on the brand. She raved about Winix air purifiers, but suggested purchasing this model on Amazon. I saved $90. Anyway, I bought the air filter and got it home one week ago. Within 72 hours, my house smelled like we had maybe smoked one joint one time in the house. A week later, my boyfriend and I got into an argument about the house not smelling like weed anymore. It is amazing!! If you are smoking in the same room, the exhaust smoke goes straight into the intake of the machine and is instantly filtered out. If you are burning a scented candle in a room, it will remove the smell. If someone sprays cologne or perfume, it will remove the portion of that smell that is in the air from the air. This one is a good one!
