Remarkable TV for not very much money.
This arrived on time as promised. Unboxing and set up was easy. Picture out of the box is a little overwhelming. I turned it to a golf tournament and the fairways were electric green! I had read about this earlier so did some searches for expert settings for this TV and found several sites that provided suggested settings for a variety of lighting situations. I STRONGLY recommend that you do this. They all offer a variation of setting the picture to Movie and the color tone to either Warm 1 or Warm 2. There are other more granular settings that you can play with. Anyway, after making only a few changes, I went back to the golf, and the course looked like it should and all the other channels looked like they should - not over-amped out in color, or saturation. Contrast was dialed back a bit. The picture is stunning. The 4K image lends almost a liquid-like sensation. In normal HD, the picture is still very sharp, but the 4K resolution removes any hint of it being an image made up of pixels. Incredible.
Supplied apps seem appropriate for a Smart TV - Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. etc. I had no trouble hooking up to my wireless network.
The remote seems to cause many people grief. I suspect it is just because they are used to their old remote, covered in buttons. Nearly every function is quickly reached from the Home menu - access to attached devices, apps, settings, After connecting my Xfinity box, the TV detected it and it was able to access the Xfinity guide, scheduling of recordings, access to stored recordings, etc. It just did it. Amazing.
I replaced a 10 year old Vizio that did me a good job for a long time. When I went to remove it from the stand it was on, I had forgotten how heavy it was! The Samsung weighs easily less than half as much. I guess the only thing that I find a "con" is that while the picture is outstanding, they did not spend much on the "cabinet" if you want to call it that. Unlike the Vizio, I cannot spin the Samsung by pushing or pulling on the upper corners of the screen - it flexes a fair amount. Think the flex of a cheap laptop screen, and you get the idea. Not a huge knock, just something to note.
I would recommend this set to anyone. If you were to find fault with the picture, you would have to be very picky.
UPDATE:
Right after I received it, I was surveyed by Amazon on the delivery experience. Apparently, for these larger TV's, the delivery guys are supposed to unbox it, attach the stand and power it up to make sure it works. I had no idea this was included, so I told my wife to just have them slide the box into the garage. Wish I had known! Breaking down the TV box and the box that box came in was a chore and completely filled my recycle can. So, if you get one or similar be aware of the service you paid for!
