The cold hard truth. Good and bad, but more good than bad. Read on to see.
Okay I got the one gallon can. It was hard to open. I had to heat up a metal razor blade and melt it off. I tried a small bolt cutter at first. after a few minutes i was sick of that, heat and plastic never have issues. lol.
Than I opened the can , and after reading everyone's comments I was waiting to smell something like death. It was just a urethane smell. A little strong but not to bad. Some people have never got their hands dirty if they think this smells bad.
I used some in a mold with the sun to cure. 1 worked nice and the other had a big issue. It did not get the sun light to the bottom of the mold.( It was a deep mold) It formed a cavity. The cavity blocked the sun like a mirror would. I retried it again with a uv light, it took much longer but it worked out fine.
So I tried a third way and that was to poured the thing in stages, with the cure in the sun. Each pour I had to take back into the sun light and wait 3 minutes. That was much faster. More work but faster.
After that I added the hardener, and indeed it worked well. Nice and clear and only took 30 to 35 minutes. Last I tried with some hardener and flash cure in the sun to keep the surface smooth and get it hard before something could get in the resin. It worked out the best I would think. I let it sit in the sun for ten mins and
removed from the mold if anything was not solid it would be soon. the surface was hard and any part that didn't get full sun would still turn hard in the next few minutes. I only had a issue with seeing the little bubbles in the deeper molds. I should of vacuumed all air out before I cured, but this was just a few samples to learn from.
I now know a cure for each kind of mold I make. Also I learned this stuff gets real hard. Thin things are brittle and can be broken easy.
But all and all I must give a 5 star review for this resin. the price was nice for the gallon. Much cheaper than the two part resins. It will only cure when I want, or in 30 minutes. If I add a hardener. And the thing I liked the most, It's not as sticky as the other two part resins. I always make a mistake/ mess. This I don't spend hours trying to fix or clean up. This resin by the gallon is costing me less time and money. That's 5 stars all the way around. I hope you find this helpful and will let me know if you would like to know something that I have not tried yet. I will have about 1/4 gal to try with.(with in reason)
