The AC does work like most AC's where you attach it to the window
I bought this about a year ago when it first came out and though hesitant at first, I have never regretted it.
There was only one issue that I will mention that was and still is completely manageable. The AC does work like most AC's where you attach it to the window. For that reason, you connect a simple vent connected by a tube to your window, while connected to divider that will keep your window sealed, so the cool air does not escape. The issue is that not all windows are built to the same length, and for basic windows in NY, the size is not right for this divider. There is an extender for wider windows, and with it connected, it is too long, and without it, it is too short. There is no middle ground. Yes, it slides, but longer, not shorter.
The issue is fixed with a square piece of cardboard, easily obtainable, easily cut to size, and then tapped to the gap. Done.
The positive aspects are great. In a single room, it takes about 30 seconds to cool, and a few minutes for it to be cold. An apartment is comfortable after about 10 minutes and I imagine more results vary depending on and settings.
It can be set to be on for a specific amount of time, in increments of hours, and wifi allows your to turn it on from work or on the run, before you get home. It can be an AC, a fan, or heater, and all the other functions on the side of the box.
There is another issue I forgot to mention, but is just standard maintenance. After awhile, based on use, the water tank will fill and shut off the AC. It must then be drained with either the hose in the box but unless outside, that can be an issue. I just lift it and allow it to drain in the bathtub, I'm sure other people can find easier or options specific to their circumstances.
(Edited version) With the summer in full effect, the water tank fills to often now. I wish this wasn't as a big issue to edit my review, and drop is a star, but it is. With the difficulty of bringing it to a suitable place to drain properly, after work, or before bed, the AC will turn off and ill have to empty it and leave it on fan mode for a couple of hours, as recommend in the manual. But that isn't a solution that proves to work. More often, in three or four hours, the AC is filled with water, and needs to be emptied again. Even if I felt the hose was a viable option, there is no guarantee, that it would be that much of a difference, as I would still need to empty the tank more than three times a day. Sometimes, I just leave it off now because of the hassle.
