This cooling pad really creates some air movment! I have owned quite a few cooling pads for laptops over the years and most recently needed to replace one with noisy fans for a gaming computer that tends to get hot. Candidly, I have had limited expectations for these devices simply because I have never been too impressed at any of the ones we have purchased no matter the price point. However, the performance of this Tree New Bee Cooling Pad has definitely caught my attention. To begin, it is whisper quiet. Although I don't think the lights are necessary, for me they serve the purpose of allowing me to know the fans are on if I'm not next to my machine. I didn't buy it for the lights but for those that might be "in" to such things, they do create a cool glow under my machine. Most importantly, the functionality is amazing. I have a 17" screen and it sits on here without issue. Because of the way the my machine is positioned on the pad, there is a slight gap at the front and I can actually feel the cool air streaming out. It's not just air, its "cool" air and it has kept my machine signficantly cooler than the one we just replaced. My only regret is that I didn't find this sooner. I plan to get these for my daughter's laptop's as well. Great purchase.
