So I'm not your average user and for the average user, this desktop is great. I am using this as a Plex Server, Unifi Controller, Storage backup, and its running PlayOn as well. With any new desktop computer (from a major brand) it comes with bloatware and that caused the desktop to slow down some. The first thing I did after playing with it was reinstalling windows and upgrading to Windows 10 Pro. I saw a decrease in processor and ram utilization and things seemed quicker (which is common whenever you have bloatware on a computer). The Good Stuff: i5 9400 - great processor with scores that compete with my high-end gaming PC 12GB of ram - in this price point 8GB is more popular however this will be mentioned in the cons as well 512GB NVMe - I wasn't expecting it to be in this form factor but it was a nice surprise Included hard drive mounting screws and sata cable - and I added a 3TB hard drive for extra storage with ease The Bad Stuff 12GB of ram - Personally I'm not a fan of miss-matched ram, I wish the would have used 2 8GB sticks rather than a 4GB and 8GB stick Cooling - So for my uses the desktop never turns off and at idle the processor is around 53C and at a mild load around 79C I will be adding more fans to increase the airflow since it only has a fan on the processor but if this is going to be your media computer and stored in a closed space keep cooling in mind. Bloatware All in all, this is a great mid-ranged pc with some great features and makes a great home computer 7.22.19 Update I have been running 24/7 and after about a week I added a larger cooler and my temps have come way down to the mid 40's Celcius and the system has been very stable without any issues. 8.1.19 This is probably my last update but after another week or so of running my temps have stayed in the mid 30’s and dropping to the high 20’s which I’m very happy with. This computer has been running non-stop and has done over 8tb of internet traffic in the last two weeks (I have a gigabit fiber internet connection). All in all I am still very happy with this pc and highly recommend it. 12.22.19 I thought I would give another update on this solid little beast. I have upgraded the ram to 16GB's and now running some more software on it as well. Currently inside the box I have a 8TB drive along with the pre-installed 512GB NVMe and then a disk array with 12TB of storage in it. Current software includes: Plex Media Server - This as all of my media and personal movies and photos on it Unifi Controller - This is a network management software that manages my home network and my friends and families houses as well Fileshare Server - I have a disk array connected to it for a total of 20TB of storage space Cloud backup - It backs up to the cloud every hour so all of my personal data is secure I also run a linux VM in windows Hyper-V that runs pi-Hole that blocks ads on my home network Over the last 2 months I haven't had to restart it other than some windows updates and it has been a solid performer. I had really anticipated replacing this with another small form factor server like the one this replaced but this sips power and has been very reliable, so until I need something more this is going to keep doing its thing.... Update 1.18.2021 So no major changes since the last update but its running 24-7 and its doing great. The picture is where it sits now, in the laundry room....
