Since this tank comes as a kit, I will rate each component individually. Tank: 5/5 Glass is good quality and thicker than I thought it would be, clarity is good, seams are nice, top edges are smoothed over and clean. It also comes with a closed cell foam mat to place the tank on which is a nice addition. (Be sure not to throw this out with the packaging!)I wouldn’t change anything about it. This tank alone is worth the price. Top: 3/5 Flimsy plastic, but it serves its intended purpose. The hinges are nice and mount securely. It may not do much to help evaporation, but it will keep your fish in the tank. I didn’t use it for my application, but it’s a nice addition to a rimless tank. I’d like to see it made out of glass. Filter: 4/5 The filter is cheaply made, but it works. It’s basically just a tiny pump with a sponge attached over the intake, which is perfectly adequate for this size tank. It provides good mechanical and biological filtration. The noise that other reviewers are complaining about comes from the air intake on the return which is not really necessary. Simply plug the nipple where the tube attaches and it’ll run near silent. It would be nice if they included a second return without the air intake, but the one it comes with is easily modified. Light: 2/5 It works, but the armature is flimsy and it is not very bright. It could be okay for a betta or something, but it is still not really bright enough to show off the tank as well as I would like. It definitely would not support even the lowest light plants. If you plan on keeping live plants in this tank, you will absolutely need to purchase a different light fixture. I did not use the included light after the initial setup of the tank, but it was helpful while aquascaping since it’s so small and stayed out of my way. Overall: 5/5 I really only purchased this kit for the tank alone, and I am very pleased. The tank alone is more than worth the price of the kit, so everything else included is kind of a bonus. The attached picture is my tank 2 months after initial setup. The plants are Staurogyne repens, and the livestock are Neocaridina davidii (freshwater dwarf shrimp).
