I started taking this to help with painful periods about 7 yrs ago. I later found out it helps with ovarian cysts. Supposedly it dissolves them. I noticed almost immediate effects (within 30 minutes) when taken to help with cyst pain and took it for 7 days to be sure it kept the pain at bay. I've kept this around over the last 7 years and found many uses for it from helping stop muscle cramps to helping with period and cyst pain. I would occasionally give some out to female coworkers and one of my daughter's friends when she had cyst issues and even ovulation pain. I had no idea why it works until today when I saw a video about hormone imbalances by Barbara O'Neil. She talked about a Wild Yam cream that can be applied and absorbed by the body that regulates progesterone. Progesterone helps temper estrogen. Estrogen is what causes cell growth, both normal and abnormal. Too much estrogen can cause breast, uterine, ovarian, and cervical cancers. It also can cause blood clots, stroke, thyroid issues and weight gain. There are many reasons today why any person would have too much estrogen production. I'm guessing whether it's capsule form or cream form wild yam works either way. Someone mentioned a formula change and a taste like soap. I've not noticed any change in effectiveness, but did notice a slightly soapy flavor. Possibly the capsule itself? Either way, whatever was done did not diminish it's effect. I plan to take this regularly for a while to see if it helps with the beginnings of menopause symptoms I experience, and possibly start using a cream once a day before bed, too.
