I love the Peloton experience - I totally cheated
I I bought this bike for the Peloton Experience. I'm not forking over $2K until I know I can stick with the program. I love the bike. I bought the belt driven version because I read they were quieter. The bike is very quiet. I get up in the morning and ride before the family gets up and it never wakes them. The seat and handlebars adjust perfectly and without too much tugging. I feel secure in the saddle and I think I have the correct form. (Even though nothing about it feels right!) I'm 5'7" with plenty of room to adjust it either way. My only complaint was that the box was torn up in delivery. I pulled out the bike thinking it would be damaged but it's wrapped up very securely. The only damage was a tear in the handlebar foam. I was disappointed but ultimately kept the bike anyway. Here's how I turned by bike into a low rent Peloton: 1) Started with this bike - 2) Bought the Wahoo RPM and Cadence monitors - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E0YRQIA/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_30 (Don't buy the pair like I did. The RPM doesn't fit the bike. There is no where to mount it. I kept it for possible use on my real bike. You only need the Cadence monitor.) 3) I already had the iPad so I needed the mount for it. I bought the Premium Zip-Grip Universal Mount - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5YTO5K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 4) Purchased the Shimano A530 SPD Petals - easily installed them on the bike as I was putting it together. The bike does not come with proper spin petals. I found that the original petals were too slippery. 5) Shimano SH-RP2W Road Shoes - They got the best reviews and were easiest to figure out the sizing. (I wear 8.5 or 9. Bought the size 42 - perfect fit) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZUYFOQ6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 6) 4Ucycling Premium 3D padded pants. You WANT these pants. Very padded and it stays in place. Cheapest ones on Amazon and well worth the money. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YMMVZV0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 7) Roam Universal Premium Phone Mount -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LWDCSIZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I easily put the bike together on my own - 160 LBs woman in my living room one morning. Very simple instructions as the major parts come pre-assembled. I attached the IPad mount and put the cadence monitor on the pedal (This took me a minute to figure out. Then I ended up reading the directions...) I added the Roam phone mount. The cadence meter and the iphone work together because you have to know your cadence to follow along on the Peloton App. I put on my shoes and had to YouTube how to do it. It's very simple. Grabbed by exerciser pants and was good to go. I pay $12/month for the Peloton app and get the exact same workouts. I don't know the resistance they're using since it's not their bike but I've played with it enough using the Cadence monitor to know and get the idea. Hope this long entry helps! And thanks for sticking with me to the end...
