I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes 2 last year. I started a regimen of Metformin, glimpipride, and Crestor. I'm guessing my blood sugar level increased to concerned levels last year, and a substitute doctor (other than my regular doctor) ordered a blood sugar check. Well I'd gotten over 200 on my blood sugar. At first I started just the medication, then did a bit more of studying on type 2. We studied nutrition, natural supplements, and activity levels. There are two key factors-- the more activity you do the more blood sugar you burn. Cut out all the startches you can. No more white potatoes. Sweet potatoes. No macaroni, spaghetti noodles, and especially no white breads. The less you eat of carbs and more vegetables the more your body works on proper nutrition. As for this ALA 600mg. First let me say I'm an actual customer. I bought this with my own money after doing a lot of study on the internet about supplementing your doctor prescribed regimen. DO NOT think this will reduce your blood sugar and stop your neurological pains by itself. It's only a part of the total plan of attack on your disease. Back to ALA. I started using these capsules about three months ago. The change was so gradual I've just come to realize, the small pangs of pain that accompany dibetic nerve issues have started to go away. I still get some pangs now and then, but not like I did when we discovered my pre-diabetes and pre-medication. I don't know how much ALA has contributed to the reduction of my blood sugar level but I'm really within an acceptable range now. I'm down around 105, which isn't bad considering I was up to 280 before. I use this supplement in the hopes that it will help me in my fight against the disease. But it is in conjunction with the medication my doctor prescribed. Does it work? Yes it does. It has severely reduced the leg pains I experienced. But it was so gradual and took months to feel the difference. Now the rest is up to me. I need to modify my life and eating habits even more to reduce my blood sugar and hopefully as I lose weight I can cut back on medication. Use this knowing that you are adding a good element to your regimen but don't expect all the miracles some people are proclaiming here. The reduction of diabetes and nerve pain doesn't happen overnight. It was so gradual for me I've just realized I'm nearly pain free. I attribute that to the Alpha Lipoic Acid in conjunction with my pre-diabetic medicine. Highly recommended.
