★★★★☆
Not bad for the cost (on sale)
The Pro's:
1) Price (on sale)
2) Construction for the price.
3) Run time estimate is fairly close to advertised
4) Fairly easy to maintain.
5) Very portable.
6) Fairly quite for the price. (It's no Honda)
7) Output fairly accurate. (hz was 59.99, voltage was ~123) (See below)
Cons:
1) It's a very dirty engine. Filed with fresh oil (SAE30) and gas, ran the unit for ~4 hours with a 1350w load on full tank of gas. Ambient temperature was 55F. Drained the oil (which I do on every new product that uses oil after the first tank of gas) and WOW. I've provided some pictures. I'm hoping that most of that is from manufacturing, and will be much cleaner the 2nd time around.. We shall see.
2) There is no fuel valve. I knew this going in, but it's still nice to be able to run the carb. empty after a short runs.
3) The implementation of the eco-run system is a joke. Any load greater than 1K requires you to turn it off. So if you plan on running a Refrigerator on this, DO NOT use the eco-system as the the unit cannot stabilize voltage and hz during the inrush amperage of the compressor starting. (Handles it no problem when off) I tested this with a small freezer that pulls 110w after startup stabilization.
