After dealing with a silicone sink strainer, this is paradise! The silicone one built up dark mold that I couldn't remove even after soaking it in bleach for several days. Worse, when I would try to pick it up from the sink, I'd end up with mold under my nails <shudder>. This one is great! It's not silicone, so I'm hoping to avoid mold. It fits further down in the drain, so I don't htat that "lip" that the other one had that trapped crud under it. It's easy to remove and easy to empty and clean. So far, I am happy with this purchase. Edit: After 4 months of use, I am still happy with this device and am particularly happy that it has not grown any mold! It works well, but I have had one or two occasions where it does fill up enough that even the slotted stem is submerged and the sink fills up some. I think mine just rests lower in the drain that for some other sinks. Still recommend!
