Takes care of my Husky hair!
I wanted to give my honest review of the Shark Ion Robot and answer some of the questions I had when researching. I researched robot vacuums for months and almost purchased the Roomba irobot 650, but after buying the Shark Duo clean lift away vacuum this summer (which I love!), I decided to try the shark.
1. Because owning a husky, any help vacuuming is better than none!
2. I can keep track of the Shark using the app, schedule cleanings, notifications and run time log.
3. The price was much more affordable
So here is my review:
It is true, connecting to the app took more tries than it should have. But, after 3 tries it connected and I haven’t had an issue since, even after replacing our wireless router recently.
It’s been about a month since purchasing Bruce (we named him Bruce the shark). I am very happy with this little robot! Our home main floor living is about 2000 square feet. I have one carpeted bedroom and one 8x10 area rug, and the rest is hardwood and tile.
I have been running it once a day (weekdays) while we’re at work. It has been a HUGE help. My husky sheds literally ALL year and if I don’t vacuum a few times a week hair is everywhere. With having a little one now crawling around on the floor it was getting really frustrating, but he now isn’t covered in hair. This thing does a great job even on carpet.
It has regular vacuum brush type bristles instead of the rubbery bristles the Roombas have which I was happy about. I had read reviews that the rubbery type leave hair clumps behind on carpets but this actually does pretty well on carpets.
My husband was hesitant to buy a robot vacuum that doesn’t have “mapping” but he even said how surprised he was how well it is keeping up. It does have a random pattern but seems to hit most places. I dont see the tumbleweed hair balls in the corners and under the furniture.
The first day we ran it, I forgot to lay down the boundary tape around our dogs water bowl and when we came home Bruce was stopped near the water bowl.. I think he sucked up some water which I almost cried thinking I ruined him. But, i left him sit for a day to dry and has been fine since.
He has only gotten stuck once that he couldn’t get out of. He ran up over the legs of my sons rock n play and couldn’t get over the leg. That was my fault for leaving it near the dock. So far it has had no trouble running and returning back to the dock when the battery is low or the tray is full. Average run time in my home is about an hour and 15 minutes to 1.5 hours.
It fits under almost all of our furniture and is very gentle navigating around objects. The majority of the time it slows down when it senses something instead of crashing into things which is nice since we have white baseboard.
Overall, I’m very happy with it! For the price point you can’t beat it. I hope it lasts a long time!
