Car seat is HEAVY! So for a small person like me, installing was straightforward, but exhausting. HOWEVER! I had my son in this car seat when we got t-boned by a speeding pickup truck. We got hit on my side (passenger) and my son was behind me because I am short and getting him out of the middle seat was too difficult in a big F-150 (I learned my lesson!). I suffered a broken skull, fractured eye socket, and brain hemorrhage that required emergency surgery. I have a long recovery ahead of me, BUT MY SON WAS UNHARMED!!!! I strongly believe this car seat saved his life. My son came out of that wreck without so much as a scratch. Attending EMS told me that they expected nothing but corpses upon arriving, and where very surprised to find us not only alive, but mostly unharmed. All in all, this is a very sturdy car seat, easy to install with the base. My son has always been comfortable in it, and he is a hefty boy. I do wish it was made of a sturdier fabric as my son spills everything and the cover isn't as washable as I would hope for. It stands up to a delicate cycle by itself just fine, but some messes require more scrubbing that this cover wouldn't stand up to. Regardless, I would absolutely recommend this car seat. All of the nurses tending to me asked about the car seat once they found out my son had been in the wreck and saw how happy and healthy he was. I recommended this Diono to all of them!!
