Update (6/14/16): As time progresses, perception of unit has favorably improved. CD Player operates satisfactorily, AM/FM reception if fine (without telescoping antenna). And, good quality tapes provide remarkable fidelity...-:) --- Cassette Rewind button worked well, was indispensable winding back dozens of old tapes. Thus far, a number of them play 'well.' Not surprisingly, quality of audio is OK. In contrast to naysayers, unit intended for portability not fidelity. --- Purchased system to play large number of cassette tapes that languished for years. (arrived perfectly packed with other items - four CDs, in alphabetical order!) However, reading Operating Instructions, under 'Playing a Tape,' regrettably, it stated, "Use Type I (normal) tapes only. Type II (high position), Type III (ferro-chrome) and Type IV (metal) tapes are not supported."
