Just what I needed
I got this because I wanted to stop using the microwave at work to 'nuke' the healthy food I spent so much time at home preparing. This handy, affordable crock pot was the answer. I have heated soups and regular lunches (meat and veggies) and it has always performed well.. I am very happy with my purchase. There is one hiccup I want to mention. If you are planning to leave the heating unit (main body of the crock pot) at work and just transport the internal canister back and forth, prepare for the possibility of leaking issues down the road. At first, the seal was tight. Now, after a few uses, there have been leakage issues. But I found a simple solution. I now leave the heating unit AND the internal canister at work. I pack my lunch in tupperware and just put it in the canister when I am ready to begin heating my lunch. After I am done with lunch, I just wash the internal canister and place it back in the heating chamber. Problem solved! It takes my unit about one hour to go from lukewarm to perfectly hot, so if I want lunch at noon, I put it in at 11. If I leave it in for much longer, say an hour and a half, I have found that it becomes piping hot, so you may need to play with it to figure out what temp works for you. There is no internal thermometer or anything fancy like that, so the longer you keep it plugged in, the hotter it gets, if that makes sense. While I am on the subject of heating, you should know that there is no on/off switch. It is on when plugged in and off when not plugged in.
