More convenient but more expensive than the Thermacell Halo
I've been a fan of the Thermacell Halo to keep our patio clear of mosquitos in the warmer months and was excited to see this smaller more attractive Mosquito Repeller from Thermacell. Both units will function best in still air and work better in a semi-enclosed space (a fenced area or a least 2 walls will help). We haven't hit peak bug season yet, but the smaller Radius system seems equally effective at repelling mosquitoes as the Halo.
In addition to being smaller and thus more portable than the Halo, the Radius has the advantage of being rechargeable and not requiring butane cartridges. Prices on supplies fluctuate, but it's still a bit more expensive to operate with 40 hours of repellent fluid costing about $20 vs. $16 for 48 hours worth of butane and mats for the Halo. This unit will turn itself off after 2 hours, which may be advantage if you've forgotten turn off the Halo and burned through and entire butane cartridge. With the Halo, you could easily see when it was time to replace the mat, but you have to open the Radius to check the fluid level. I don't detect much of an odor from either system, but my daughter says she can smell the gas from the Radius (and doesn't like it); I've also seen some wisps of smoke from this unit that I haven't seen from the Halo.
