Great Space Saving Solution - If You Put A Little Extra Effort Into The Assembly...
I was excited to get this shoe rack so my stereotypical large shoe collection could be stored up off the floor giving me more closet space. I was wary of the product's quality based on some of the negative reviews. I put it together and it did seem a bit unsturdy, but I figured I would give it a shot. Sure enough, after a couple times of closing the door, my shoes came tumbling down as the metal rods fell out of their plastic supports. Not easily deterred, I was determined to make this work because it is so awesome for shoe storage. Things like under bed storage etc. make it harder to access shoes and this is so easy to see all of your shoes laid out in front of you. I decided to try driving a nail through the plastic support that would then secure the metal rod. After banging it with a hammer a few times I realized a. the nail was not going to go through, but b. just hitting had pushed the metal rod into the plastic much more securely! I took the whole thing off the wall and hammered the back of each plastic support on each side and could feel each rod move into the plastic support about 1/4" more! I pulled on the rods and found I now couldn't pull them out if I wanted to. So much more secure! If you have a problem with the rods staying in, or even before putting it up, I HIGHLY recommend pulling out the hammer and making sure the rods are really fully inserted. If you want this shoe rack to really work - ignore the "tool-free assembly" slogan and hammer the rods in. The little extra effort will save your door, your walls, your shoe rack, and your shoes!
