I'm including some pictures of the trash can that might help. Like all the reviewers have said, the mechanism is smooth, the can is well made, but I'm hoping to provide a little more perspective on size, shape, etc. I think it's great! I've got a picture of the internal can next to a traditional, Target-bought, Sterlite 13 gal trash can, to provide some perspective. So the SH internal trash can is slightly smaller. The external can is slightly larger. Also including an internal shot of the mechanics of the mechanism. And a side view shot of the lid (it's thinner than I imagined).
