This is a fantastic unit for the money
This is a fantastic unit for the money. It is not going to be a $200 unit so don't expect it to be but WOW am I impressed. Here is why... this watch does everything I needed and then some. I have no idea, nor do I care if the pedometer works. UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM! So here we go, the pros and cons: Pros: - Very good construction quality. Happily surprised. - Volume is good, speaker very good. Not raspy or tinny like others in this price range I tried. - Messaging, Instant Messaging, Email, and Incoming Call notifications all work without a hitch. - Time and Weather keep their settings / time keeps on ticking when you get too far away from your phone and the watch disconnects. I LOVE THIS. Some of the cheaper watches will reset time/date info every friggin time until it reconnects to the phone. - Works alongside my BT Headset! Just disable the audio connection to the watch and neither interfere with the other. Solid. - Although only 3, it has nice analog watch faces to choose from. - Alarm is nice. Never thought about having it. Works great and does it's job. - Calendar with Alarm. sweet. Setup my recurring meetings. - It's COMFORTABLE TO WEAR. Big plus compared to some of the smart watches out there. - Probably the biggest Pro: The watch itself has a QR code menu option. Tap it, brings up a QR Code. Scan it with your phone - and it downloads the BT Notification that goes with this watch. Absolutely awesome. Cons: - EDIT: Remote camera control works fine with any of my phones / tablets. The device has to be unlocked and at least sitting at home screen though so... I can see a couple of uses for it. More novelty than anything for me. It does work though so... not much of a con beyond you have to unlock your device first. Still a con for me. - Manual is definitely on the lacking side. It does tell you all you need to get started, but navigation of the watch is not at first intuitive. HOWEVER, once you do figure out how to use the watch it is actually quite elegant and easy to use. Interface is very responsive and very accurate. - Just a *smidge* large. Not bad at all, and for someone with normal to large wrists it would be perfect. I've got small wrists so it is borderline. Overall, if you are looking for a smart watch, for cheap, I don't think it gets any better than this. You have to pay attention as you set it up... because of the crappy 'engrish' manual, it is not readily apparent how to work the device, etc. Just use common sense, swipe the screen left and right until you get the QR code, grab the application and install it on your phone and read what it says during install. If you don't go and turn on notifications in your settings in the right place, or you don't pair it and set it for automatic, etc... then it isn't going to work aside from one or two items. With a little bit of effort - wow what a buy! UPDATE4: 1 YEAR Later... done deal. This is the best product I have ever purchased from Amazon for the money and I have bought a lot of good stuff, junk stuff, and in between. I am going to try one of the similar models by CNPGD that are the silver frame, just because I like the look better, but let me tell you - a year later, and the battery is perfect - still getting 2 to 2.5 days depending on how heavy I use the media player. I've gotten so used to the tiny keyboard, I constantly reply to text messages for work now with short updates. I really thought I might be able to go 100% watch phone (ZGPAX is great), but with my line of work, that phone tablet screen real-estate with a smart watch for easy notifications and updates... man it is an unbeatable combo for now. Thank you CNPGD! I'm going to buy myself the silver one now just for a nice change since they are available. Might buy one of each. UPDATE3: 6 months later... There really isn't much left to say other than I am lost without this thing now. Ok, perhaps not lost but utterly annoyed without it. Solid build, Built in QR Code to just scan and install the software, basically unlimited notification options (I currently use text messages, gmail, office email, skype, voicemail (notification), and a couple of rss feeds. Yep that's right kids - any app can be shunted through the notifier. It's friggin' awesome. I'm upgrading this to a 5 star device. After 6 months of beating it to death (I stepped on it once. It still works lol) and it never disappointing I just have to. It is a well-built and functional device. More thanI can say for some name brand products I have. Seriously. I am considering writing up a really solid English manual and tips and tricks guide for this thing and putting it up for donations. If you take the time to learn how to use this device (which would be greatly reduced with a good manual with good directions) it is just fantastic. UPDATE2: 2 months later... everything I said below +1. It still works as good as ever, I get lots of compliments and questions about it, people gasp and freak out when I tell them what I paid for it, and I'd say 4 or 5 of the guys at the office have one now including the boss! If only they came in pink, my wife and half the 'girly girls' in the office would have one too I think. If you want a smartwatch on the cheap, you're nuts if you don't at least give this one a try seriously. Now that I am past the 'new toy' phase it has really become an integral part of my daily life in getting things done. If I run out the door without it, I hate having to constantly grab my phone and check my messages, etc. all day long. I receive incoming service calls and case updates all day every day via SMS on top of company email so it is a real time and frustration saver! UPDATE1: Battery life is amazing. All day long no problems. HERE is where I think some people might have had problems 'out of the box'... You need to charge this thing completely. It doesn't take long... but I noticed that as the battery gets close to 'low warning' it has a hard time staying connected to the phone and it's range is greatly diminished. JUST CHARGE YOUR WATCH! Because when this thing is charged up it has amazing range for a BT device. I really abused it today - played music during my entire lunch break, made some phone calls using it, used it to respond to text messages just for the fun of it, kept messing around with settings and such... I don't think it got a whole lotta 'dark time' to speak of for a good 9 hours. So charging for 2 hours this morning, strapping it on, then about 12 hours later it starts acting up a little. So I charge it up and it is perfect again. I am so sold on this little guy it's crazy.
