No Power Draw when USB Unplugged
I was wondering what a lot of people were, whether or not this thing wasted power when no USB device was plugged in. As you can see in the picture, no wattage is being detected by my meter when unplugged, whereas it draws 9ish watts when charging a Samsung Note 5. No power wasted! TopGreener lives up to the name, in spite of my doubts. Installation is as easy or easier than a typical receptacle, given the way the wire connect. You do not wrap the wire around the screw nor push the wire in and hope that the gauge is appropriate for whatever spring mechanism is in there - you push the wire in and then tighten the hidden clamp. This provides a connection that is mechanically secure, fast to do, hard to mess up, and without exposing any extra hot wires. The screws of the hot wire will still be hot, but it's better than having an extra wire wrapped around it, making it protrude more and be more likely to come within striking distance of the uninsulated ground wire when everything gets crammed back in the wall. Just make sure you TIGHTEN THE SCREWS - don't make the mistake of thinking that they are the type you press in and get held by friction. It comes with two wall plates too, so you can have a matching outlet whether you use the bigger fancier one or the standard smaller size plates. 5/5 Easy of Installation 5/5 Safety (absolute minimal exposed wires) 5/5 Power Consumption 5/5 Appearance and Compatibility Oh yeah, and it's a fraction of the price of the ones in Lowes or Home Depot, which are total rip offs.
