I bought two of these one for the master bedroom and one for the bathroom. Other and more expensive digital units only allowed you to set how long the heater stays on but I found none that allowed you to set the on time. The digital units can't be place on timers because once the power is shut off they can not be turned back on unless you push the power button on the heater. These manual controlled units work perfectly with the two timers I listed below. The bathroom unit uses the insteon outlet and is set to come on every day at sunrise and turn off around noon. The bedroom heater uses the GMYLE timer and is set to come on only when the temperature outside drops below 32 degrees. We have a heat pump upstairs which is a very efficient HVAC system but gets very expensive to run once it gets too cold outside (heat strips vs heat pump). With just 2 of us in the house it make sense to just heat the one room instead of the whole upstairs especially during the extremely cold days. Oil heaters take longer to warm up a space but if planned accordingly (timers) they are much more energy efficient to use then the ceramic heaters. Ceramic heaters produce instant heat which is instantly gone once you turn the heater off and are very expensive to use ( I conducted my own test too using an electrical watt meter).
