I decided I needed this for my little indoor seed sprouting experiment. I wanted to get a head start on my seeds while it was still freezing overnight. I'm doing some winter sowing, but not all plants can be winter down. I had basil seeds germinating for over a week without the mat--in past years, they've come up in a couple of days. I out them on the mat, and BOOM. Overnight they all popped out of the seed starter. A couple more days, and I have happy little cucumbers and pole beans emerging.
