I’m completely satisfied with my purchase. Our bedroom window faces west and it already stays light out until ten pm where we live. I wanted a way to darken our room and on that aspect they’re awesome. My only suggestion to any seekers of total darkness is to mount your curtain rod to the ceiling. This will allow the curtains to be closer to the window. It will also maximize their ability to block light by bringing the topmost portion of the curtains well above the top sill of the window. We mounted our curtain rod just above our window and to the wall. This still allows some light into the room. It’s not enough to warrant reinstalling the curtain rod though. I’ll remember this when we move for next time. When I read that they were insulated for temp and sound I gave little consideration to those benefits. I was very surprised by how much cooler the room stays and how much quieter it is. We live in an apartment and on weekends neighbors often congregate on their porches. Normal conversation could be disturbing let alone drunk people talking. These conversations are much less noticeable after the installation. Also, some of our neighbors start their vehicles (diesel trucks) early in the morning and let them idle. The sound this makes no longer wakes us up. The only thing I wish I had now was an automatic curtain rod that would open the curtains at a certain time. I can’t sleep if it’s getting light out and the room is so dark now that I’ve been sleeping in. I can probably find one on Amazon so I’m in the right place, lol.
