Just practice with it first, as others stated. You can't pull it out of the box, fill it up with paint and squeeze the trigger like it's the throttle on a NHRA drag car... You wouldn't buy a set of golf clubs and blame your game on your clubs, would you? Yeah....some of you would... Anyway, moving on... Before you run paint through it, take it apart and see how it goes back together. This will help in the cleaning process. Fill it with water, play with the settings and get the FEEL of the trigger; see how the spray pattern comes out with each attachment and you'll be just fine... The unit makes about as much, if not less, noise as a muted hair dryer and is very smooth. Cleaning is easy (Latex paint) but does take some time if you want the just out of the box look again. (Cosmetic) Hot soapy water will be your next best friend, but if you focus on the parts that matter, it's actually very easy to clean. Yes. the hose, the case, the cord, the accessories etc. are going to get over-spray; but it is what is... It does not mean that this unit sucks. It's not intended to be able to paint the next new gas tank at Orange County Choppers or finish the cabinets at the Presidential Suite at the Bellagio. (although I'm gonna give it shot) It is very capable of helping you paint large areas very quickly with good quality. I was very satisfied with the results. It's like any other tool in your arsenal; you have to learn how to use it and take care of it. Take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you... READ THE USER MANUAL!!!! Painting extracts it's pound of flesh no matter what method you chose.
