So Soft! 2-hr & 6-hr Auto-Off; Complicated to Wash/Dry
The Pros:
This blanket is SOOOO soft! I wasn't sure it would be as soft as it claimed but let me tell you, this thing is as soft as any non-electric plush blanket. The red color is absolutely beautiful. I also wish that the website had mentioned, it has more than just 10-hour auto-off, it also has 2-hour and 6-hour auto-off options. The blanket has a slot near the foot of the bed for the wire to plug in, and the wire runs under your mattress to your nightstand where you put your controller, and then there's another wire that runs from that to plug it in to the wall.
We turn the blanket on maybe 15 minutes before we go to bed and it is so pleasant to get in with the sheets and bed already warmed up for us. We use the 2-hour auto-off and keep it on like level 7, the bed is nice and toasty for falling asleep and then it turns off so you're not sweating in your sleep. I just love this thing. I wish I could use it sitting at my desk...I'm thinking about getting a matching electric throw blanket so I can wear it everywhere....
Care and Washing:
It claims to be machine washable and dryer-safe, but when you read the instructions on the actual blanket for washing, it has a lot more to say on the matter. This is taken directly from the tag on the blanket:
"Washing Instructions: Presoak for 15 minutes in mild soap and cold water. Machine wash in mild soap and cold water on slow cycle for 2 minutes. Rinse in fresh cold water. Spin dry. Stretch to original size. Do not put through a wringer.
Drying Instructions: For best results, air dry over two parallel lines. Do not use clothes pins. Machine dry caution: Do not use commercial dryers or dryers at your local laundromat. Preheat dryer on low temperature setting for 2 minutes. Add electric blanket and tumble dry for 10 minutes. Remove while still damp and stretch to original size. Air dry over a line or shower rail."
Needless to say, this is a bit more complicated than just throwing it in the machine and forgetting about it, so I'm sure that when it comes time to wash this thing I might be a little less pleased with it. However, I'm sure that's going to be the case for just about any electric blanket, so not really sure it's a con. Just worth mentioning.
