Evaporative coolers always get mixed reviews because most people don't understand them. I live In LA where the humidity is in the mid range and this still cools the air about 10 degrees. It will only work if it's pointed directly on you, so the best use is on your nightstand pointed in your direction while sleeping. It is very small and fits perfectly. I have an exhaust fan in a window in the other room bringing fresh air into my room so the humidity does not get too high. It works great to cool me down while I'm falling asleep and it runs out of water around the time the temperature drops to a comfortable level. I am a light sleeper, the lights are very soft, the flashing red light is barely noticeable when it runs out of water. The air bubbles are also very faint which is much better than some humidifiers I have had in the past. If you use it in this way you will not be disappointed.
