I have never been a fan of hot coffee (I generally prefer hot chocolate, or hot tea). I also generally prefer iced tea to iced coffee, but recently a friend recommended that I try cold brew coffee. One morning I tried an "original flavor" cold brew coffee (black) from Dunkin' Donuts, and I was instantly hooked! The smooth flavor without the usual over-powering coffee acidity/bitterness was a wonderful surprise! :-) I did some research and found this Mason Jar Cold Brew Coffee Maker & Iced Tea Maker on Amazon.com (I purchased 2: 1 for home/1 for work). I have been making my own cold brew coffee/cold brew iced tea ever since! My favorite cold brew coffee recently is a Dark Roast/French Vanilla/Hazelnut/Peru Sunrise combo. I put 2/3rds of a cup of the mixed coffee grounds to the metal mesh filter, I add water (slowly), and put the mason jar in the fridge for 12-24 hours. Then I remove the filter, pour the contents of the Mason jar into a 64 ounce stainless steel thermos, fill to the top with cold water, add 4 tablespoons of "Sugar in the Raw", and shake for 15-20 seconds. I did notice that some of the coffee grounds make their way through the filter and end up in the bottom of the Mason jar, but it does not seem to adversely affect the flavor in any way. For cold brew tea, I use the same process, but I add 6 teabags to the filter (usually, 4 Raspberry Zinger and 2 Lemon Zinger) and I leave the Mason jar in the fridge for a full 36 hours for a nice strong concentrate. The cold brew coffee/tea can easily last 4-5 days in the thermos (refrigerated), and it is a great cold drink to start the morning (or for any time of day)! If you are interested in making your own cold brew coffee and tea, I highly suggest this product! Several people at work have tried my cold brew coffee, and everyone loves it (especially those like me, who do not normally enjoy coffee)!
