Sliding glass door curtains and I LOVE them!
I love these curtains! I love the thickness, the weight of these! They really do feel soft, yet with a feeling of heaviness that makes these drape beautifully. Color: Beige - the picture is not accurate, although I would say the color name is accurate. These are a light khaki (not dark)..my husband wears khaki colored pants to work everyday, so I do know the color..it's slightly lighter then a normal man's khaki colored causal pant. My walls are the creamy/ivory color that these are supposed to be, and they look great with them. I used a one inch brushed nickel rod at Big Lots (discounted merchandise from other stores) and I LOVE the antiqued coppery bronze against the silver color of the rod. I have a ceiling fan with the brushed nickel, in my dining room, which is close to my kitchen..there are elements of browns, blacks, silver..so the color does well. I used TWO 100 inch panels WITH a middle support bracket..and I LOVE that you can leave one closed, the other partially opened on one side, or push both to the far edges of the rod to see out. When you are holding the grommets together for one panel, they are exactly 3 inches, so, you will need to hang the rod 4 inches out (the bracket holder takes 1 inch) past the frame of your sliding glass door, so that you have access to the door handle without touching the curtains. These are not completely blackout curtains..they do have a very soft glow, but they do keep the hot sun from shining in, and, I've noticed on these chilly mornings, that they do keep the coldness from the window, on the other side, which is where I want it to be. I would say these are more casual, but can be dressed up, as I did by adding a decorative wrought iron wall hanging. Feel free to ask questions!
Update 6/4/2015 - Made it through a very cold Virginia winter, and I will say, I still love my curtains! They really helped tremendously on keeping out that cold air. Now that it's getting warmer, I've had to close the curtains several mornings because of direct sunlight..and you can tell immediately they not only block out the sun, (a soft glow, not total blackout) but keeps out the heat. Will update this once we get through the worse of summer. *side note: because I let my dogs out several times a day, many times I'll go outside with them..and instead of closing the glass door, I've even closed the curtains and left the door open even though I have a screen..the heaviness of the curtains keep out the bugs, while not letting in heat in or cool out, for short periods of time, while I walked around in my back yard.
