Great gate- I have them all over my house. I read the other reviews warning about the quality of the included screws, and while I did not have problems-I could see the issue. It looks like the included screws are aluminum- they are very light weight and stripped very easily. However, if you know this going in, you can just pre-drill the hole first and you'll be fine. Drywall screws work well as a replacement if you end up stripping the ones provided.. When assembled, the gate is very sturdy. The gate is basically bolted together at a width close to what you need and then final adjustments are made via the corner adjustment bolts, somewhat similarly to a pressure mounted gate. The BIGGEST advantage to this gate design is the fact that all of the hardware tucks in close to the wall, and the whole gate swings out of the way. You lose almost no width in your opening. For me, as this was at the entrance to the first set of stairs in a 3 story house, this was critical. By the way, if you're wondering how to attach to stairway banister I really recommend the stairway gate install kit from Kidco as well. I've attached a picture to show the gate plus adapter at the bottom of my stairs. I'm the "handy" one of my friends and with the stairway install kit (15-20 min) plus this gate I was probably at just over 30 minutes total to install. If that seems long, that's because it kind of was, but much of my time on installing the gate was lost to the so-so instructions. **UPDATE: I recently purchased and installed my fourth (yes, fourth) one of these gates, and I'm happy to say the instructions included are a completely newer format are much better. I had a complaint about the instructions in my review previously that I have since removed. I no longer think this is an issue with this gate, although I still recommend pre-drilling your holes or using your own screws for mounting the brackets **UPDATE 2** Added picture to show mounting with the adapter as I've had a few people ask about.
